Why is Teacher required?

Some people think that they can learn better by themselves than with a teacher. Others think that it is always better to have a teacher. So, do we really require a teacher?

The answer might seem paradoxical so let's see the idea.
Learning is the acquisition of knowledge or skill, which may differ from person to person. People can learn by themselves and from others. Learning can be effective only if a learner can acquire knowledge or skill faster and in a proper way. So, I believe it is a far better idea to have a teacher.
Learning by a teacher is faster and goal oriented. Learning on our own may take longer time and may not head towards the particular direction. If we have whole life to read then we can learn by ourselves but we have limited time to study and also we've to pass the exams so we require teachers. People cannot learn many things if s/he tries him/herself. On the other hand if s/he learns from a teacher; more knowledge can be acquired in a short time. I personally feel that only a brilliant student can study him/herself without guidance of a teacher. Most people require the guidance of a teacher to direct his studies in the desired direction.

Value Of Time

There's a saying "You don't know the worth of water till the well is dry." Similarly it also happens with the time until we've missed it we'll never realize it's value. The following poem might come handy when understanding the value of time.

To realize the value of One Year,
Ask a student who failed his / her annual examination.
To realize the value of One Month,
Ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of One Week,
Ask an editor of a Weekly Magazine.
To realize the value of One Day,
Ask a daily wage labourer who has six children to feed.
To realize the value of One Hour,
Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of One Minute,
Ask a person who missed their train.
To realize the value of One Second,
Ask the person who survived an accident.
To realize the value of One Millisecond,
Ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.
