Science is always one step behind Spirituality. Science defines energy as, which can neither be created nor destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another. Similarly, thats the definition of spirit in Bhagavad Gita or any other religious book before the birth of science. So, what verse 2:22 of Bhagavad Gita says is that: As human beings change old clothes, so does our spirit changes our old bodies and enters into the one which is new. So, spirit / soul is eternal. We are consciousness our consciousness never ends it just expands.
